Anibal Troilo was a bandoneon player, bandleader and a composer. He was mostly self taught and played in tango bands since the age of 13. He was also one of the first bandleaders whose recordings were sold internationally. Troilo inspired many other players including  the most famous Astor Piazzolo.  Along with Carlos Gardel , Troilo is considered one of the two important figures of the classic tango

In 1937, his own band made debut in 1937 in Buenos Aires. It quickly became as the leading band of its time. Some of Troilos famous songs were Barrio de tango and Sur, were a tango classics in the 1940’s. that was written with by lyrcisist Homero Manzi. He also wrote music for a long running musical called El patio de la morocha. From 1950’s, he also worked with smaller groups such as the Troilo-Grela Quartet with guitarist Roberto Grela  and his own Anibal Troilo Quartet which he made many recordings with.
