Buchardo was a central figure in the culture of Argentina. He was the
founding director of the National Conservatory of Music and Performing Arts
which opened in 1924. After his death in 1948, the conservatory was renamed to Conservatorio
"Carlos López Buchardo". Buchardo also established the fine arts school
of the University of La Plata. There he served as professor of harmony. He was
also a board member and chairman of the Teatro Colón of the National Society of
Music. He was director of the Wagnerian Association, for over three decades. Some
of his most popular songs include: "Song of the road",
"Jujuy", and "Vidalita". Carlos López Buchardo died on April 21,
1948 in Argentina.
